Geysers blowing, wildlife roaming, majestic mountains surround, while the wild buffalo walks across the street in front of your vehicle and around your tent in the campground…this is YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK! Explore Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho through YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK for a camping adventure.
When I thought of YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Old Faithful Geyser is what immediately came to mind. Explore! Adventure in this National Park! This geyser is what inspired the establishment of Yellowstone as the world’s first national park in 1872. Go Wyoming!
Explore Old Faithful Geyser, one of six predictable geysers in the park, it is only one of nearly 500 active geysers in Yellowstone National Park. It’s name comes from the fact that eruptions can be timed by about 30 minute intervals that have been occurring for the last 30 years.
Adventure! Many other geysers are present in YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK and can be very dangerous. Extreme caution must be observed when walking in this area. They are predominantly located in the Southwestern part of the park in Wyoming!
What I began to understand as we entered to explore YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK from the Northeast entrance into the Lamar Valley was the vast beauty of this area! We traveled the Beartooth Highway on this adventure! It’s no joke that it was coined “America’s most beautiful highway!” by Charles Kurault. It is a truly beautiful passage to enter the park through! The quaint little towns of Cooke City, Montana and Silver Gate, Montana that you pass through prior to entering the park are gems. Stop here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You will not be disappointed. We camped in the Gallatin National Forest Campgrounds located near Cooke City prior to entering YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK. I highly recommend this area. REALLY beautiful, safe and peaceful.
We planned to camp in a tent throughout this trip. So, when we left home everything we were going to need along the way for camping had to be packed very carefully for 4 outdoor adventurers! Our truck was packed to the gills, and we used a hitch carrier for a few additional items. We made camp at a perfect campground, Norris, located centrally in the park. It was quite picturesque. We were so fortunate that someone was leaving this site just as we were arriving, as these sites are highly sought after. We were awaked one morning by these large, hairy visitors outside of our tent. That was an experience! No reservations can be made at Norris campground only at the five large main campgrounds. This was an experience beyond belief!

We explored all parts of the YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK. There is plenty to see in the North section. This is where the Mammoth Hot Springs are located. Driving more centrally but still on the Northeast side, we discovered many hiking adventures and wildlife sightings. Heading south from here towards Tower Falls area we discovered another great campground area. Tower Campground is located across from Tower Falls where a visitor center, gift shop, and cafe is located. No reservations can be made at this campground, again, only at the five large main campgrounds.
The middle Southern portion of YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK has more of the Geysers and natural wildlife areas filled with canyons and streams. We really enjoyed an adventure at Firehole Canyon Drive north of Old Faithful on the lower west loop. On a really hot day there are areas that are safer to enjoy with a cool off swim, if you are extremely careful. The current will carry you down the stream to a calm landing area to get out and do it all over again, if you are brave enough! Explore this adventurous fun outing! You will not be disappointed!

South of Old Faithful we crossed the Continental Divide heading towards the south exit.
As we exited the park through the Southern exit through the Grand Teton National Park the amazingness of these mountains was breathtaking! Explore, have and adventure in YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho! Don’t forget your camping gear! Watch the video below for a display of this gorgeous landscape.
The shear, raw, untamed beauty of this wilderness landscape reminds us of God’s amazing power of CREATION!
We should ALL be reminded of His faithfulness every night when we observe that He’s not forgotten to hang the moon and place the stars in the sky, once again. On this trip we saw His majesty in the mountains that rose high above us, and daily we can ALL witness His specific attention to detail in the perfectly formed blades of grass that our feet tread upon when walking in our yards or at a local park. What an amazing God, and how even more amazing for us that He cares about every detail involving each moment of our lives.
“When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, what is mankind that You are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” Psalms 8:3-4 NIV
I’m so grateful for a God who not only created all this perfection, but still has our littlest need on His mind too!

Heya! I realize this is sort of off-topic but I had to ask.
Does managing a well-established website like yours require a large amount of work?
I am brand new to running a blog but I do write in my journal every day.
I’d like to start a blog so I can easily share my personal experience and views online.
Please let me know if you have any kind of recommendations or tips for brand new aspiring blog owners.
Appreciate it!
Barbara
YES! You can put as little time as you want into this project (hobby style) or as much time as you have available (income type). I have worked VERY HARD since January on this project in ALL my free time outside of a REAL job. I have followed several classes on starting a blog and how to drive traffic…I highly recommend these classes. Glad to answer any questions.

Yellowstone NP is HUGE on my bucketlist! I would love to visit this place one day. Those geysers reminded me of the ones in Iceland but this one looks pretty big. Thanks for sharing. Your post is very informative.

What an incredible adventure through Yellowstone! I never realized there were over 500 active geysers – Old Faithful is always the one that comes to my mind too!

What time of year do you recommend visiting to avoid crowds?

I’m still hoping I can pull together a Yellowstone trip this year. I want to combine it with all of the things to do around Mt Rushmore and make it a 7 or 10 day road trip!

We did this! Custer National Park was one of our favorites right up there with YELLOWSTONE! I highly recommend the little cabins ($40/night) in the camping areas! We had a blast!
Barbara Robinson
ALSO…another highlight of that trip was the WINDCAVE National Park just outside of Custer National Park. Definitely worth a tour! I know it seems odd…give it a look! The stories about how the caves were discovered are unbelievable!

Ah! So jealous! We had the trip planned ten years ago and then I got pregnant and we decided to put aside when kid is a bit older and then I got pregnant two more times:))) so the “better” time didn’t happen yet. But one day. One day:).
Marianne
I am definitely looking forward to heading to Yellowstone one day. Its actually already entered into my notes section of a road trip we had started to map out before the pandemic started!
