HAWAII SUNRISE and SUNSET
What is your favorite time of day to enjoy the travel of the sunshine on our horizon as the earth orbits the sun? A Sunrise? Or a Sunset? The beauty and awe inspiring tranquility that surrounds a body in this moment of the day is unparalleled.
Get a good cup of Kona coffee in hand as you stroll the ocean shoreline early morning, or an excellent vintage of vino as you reflect on that days exploration of paradise while sitting on the ocean shoreline with your toes in the sand. Both are two ways to enhance your enjoyment of this event!
SO, whether you are welcoming in a new day or ushering out the one that just passed, enjoy the moment of a Hawaiian sunrise and sunset!

What is my favorite thing about Kauai? My mornings! I love my early morning walks to greet the sun as it wakes over the ocean, peaking it’s hello to me each morning! I sip my Kona coffee and wander the ocean path. It is my most favorite part of each day!
As the sun rises and fully takes over the sky, I am almost sad that these special few hours are fleeting and quickly gone until tomorrow. I feel like this joy and ironic sadness each day! Each sunrise is such a precious gift!
“From sunrise to sunset, let the LORD’S name be praised!” ~Psalm 113:3
HAWAII SUNRISE and SUNSET
SUCH A GIFT
ENJOY both a sunrise or a sunset! The joy that these views bring are incomparable.
These views are so breathtakingly beautiful to observe!
I could just sit and watch these events everyday. WHAT A GIFT!
HAWAII SUNRISE and SUNSET
Tranquility and Nature
Tranquility descends like a shroud around one, as the peaceful stillness filled with natures wonderous harmony, sounds off engulfing your senses.
From the monotonous lapping of waves, repetitively washing ocean debris and shells to shore, to the continual chirp of birds in a forest wood harmonizing with the creak and groans of trees as they sway in the breeze, sunrises and sunsets are in perpetual motion along with all of nature continuing their cyclical process of daily evolution.
I LIVE FOR SUNRISES!
Humidity unlike anything you’ve experienced before is almost tangible on your finger tips.
Gentle trade wind breezes soothes your skin. This ensures that you do not feel over heated in the early morning and throughout the day. The fragrant floral breeze caresses you as the peaking sunshine lends a warmth to your skin, ever increasing, as the intensity grows with the brightness of the illuminated sky.
Can you feel the breeze or the humidity now? Are you able to smell the crisp, salty, ocean scents? Can you hear the quiet sounds of the earth surrounding you…an ocean bird calling to their mate, the crow of the rooster in the dawn? Close your eyes and allow your senses to guide your quiet enjoyment of this daily event.
Hello! That is God speaking to your soul! Give thanks, finish your coffee, and go explore the islands beauty for the day!
“The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.” ~Psalm 65:8
It’s interesting that we make time for sunrises and sunsets on vacation, yet in everyday life the busy-ness of life disrupts our ability to absorb this special moment that fleetingly happens twice in a day. Shame on us for not carving out the time to indulge in God’s handiwork. HE paints the sky DAILY solely for our enjoyment.
It is such a shame to waste even one of these precious moments by not enjoying the gift of this view. I am just as much an offender of letting life get in the way of this treasured daily occurrence as the next person. We tend to rush through our daily routine only to hurry home to be able to repeat the routine again the next day.
Daily I drive along the shoreline of Lake Michigan in one of the most wonderous areas of Northern Lower Michigan in a truly quaint resort town. I am guilty of being in a hurry and not taking it all in each day! Do you find yourself doing this too?
HAWAII SUNRISE and SUNSET
While on Vacation
On vacation however, the daily grind is not present, so a sunrise and a sunset become a priority along with a morning cup of favorite coffee or in the evening sipping a favorite pinot. Whether taking it all in on a cruise ship deck somewhere in the Caribbean, or a trip to a romantic Hawaiian Island, take time to reflect and enjoy the view!
Next time you are enjoying that beautiful sunrise or sunset take a moment to reflect on the fact that each one of these moments is unique and custom made for you! God is amazing in the fact that He always meets you right where you are at, especially it seems, when you slow down enough to hear Him or feel Him near. He is there! Each time…. It is amazing! He is painting that sky each time…JUST FOR YOU!
Where is your favorite place to view a SUNRISE or a SUNSET? The beach? The mountains? Your back deck? A favorite park or scenic view? I’d really like to know!

It is one of my most favorite places, times of the day, and motivation to be there!

I love a good sunset or rise from anywhere really. We went to Maui last year and had a wonderful view of the ocean from our room it was so nice to watch it each day.
Barbara Robinson
THAT is the best, for sure!
Alicia
I am also guilty of taking the beauty around me for granted. But vacation is when I slow down and really try to see the beauty around me.
Barbara Robinson
Ditto! I completely agree. It is some of the best grounding time available without being stressed or distracted to really connect.
Sabrina
We vacationed in Hawaii a few years ago before the pandemic. We had a wonderful time. It was so beautiful but expensive. Once we feel safe I hope we can vacation there again. Your pictures were spectacular bring back many fond memories. Thanks for sharing.

You are very welcome! It was a much needed, but way too fast time!
Chelsea
It’s been years since I visited Hawaii, yet I STILL remember the sunsets there!
Barbara Robinson
They are etched on my heart too!
Tiffany
I do love a good sunrise in the mountains!
Barbara Robinson
Agree!

I love both sunrises and sunsets but there is something that is so much more tranquil to me about sunrise, being up early in the morning to witness something so many people miss. The beach where I live has some pretty spectacular sunrises which I love to get out and see.
Barbara Robinson
YES! Lucky you to be able to embrace each new day so personally!
Alice
Each morning I try to watch the sunrise while sipping coffee and reading and meditating on my Bible app. It’s my time to praise God for His artwork. Sometimes, I miss it though or it’s just not as visible as other days. I would love to spend time sitting on a beach somewhere warm and watching the sun come up!
Barbara Robinson
YES! Good for you!

Being a Mom of 4 boys, I feel I’m always rushing during sunrise and sunset. I never take a moment to appreciate it and take it all in. Your post made me reflect on how much I still live in the future and never in the present moment. Thank you so much.
Barbara Robinson
I also am guilty of an over busy lifestyle and was speaking to myself just as much!
Karla Renee Petersen
That is so beautiful. We have some amazing sunrises and sunsets here in the Pacific Northwest and sometimes I forget to stop what I am doing to just “be” in the glorious moment. Thank you!
Barbara Robinson
I agree! Me too sometimes!
Stacey Billingsley
So pretty! I’d love to see both, but I’m better at catching sunsets. In Hawaii, though, I’d make sure to see both!
Barbara Robinson
With the time difference it is not hard to be awake for the sunrise! 🙂 It is harder to stay awake through dinner!
Cindy Campbell
How. relaxing and beautiful.
Barbara Robinson
Glad you can enjoy!
Cindy Moore
These are beautiful captures! Although I tend to see more sunsets, I love both. And Hawaii looks like a gorgeous place to watch them.
Barbara Robinson
Yes! Beautiful!
Suzan
What is it about beginnings and endings to the day that are so magical! Gorgeous!
Barbara Robinson
I know right! Try not to waste any! I am working towards that goal too!
Linda Egeler
I’m definitely a sunset person. Although we do love Kona coffee: I can see the appeal of enjoying a cup and watching the sun rise!
Barbara Robinson
Either are especially enjoyable!
Pam
Beautiful! We have a trip planned in April – here’s hoping it will happen and I’ll get to enjoy some Hawaii sunrises and sunsets!
Barbara Robinson
You will have an exceptional experience! Do not sweat all the regulations! It will go smoothly.
Keirsten
Such beautiful sunsets and sunrises you’ve experienced. I love watching the sun & the moon, especially when you can see the moon in the day time. I can’t decide if I prefer a sunrise or a sunset though. There is something so magical about both experiences. I think the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen was in Cuba. There’s somehting about the open water and the colours reflecting and bouncing off.
Barbara Robinson
I totally agree. When it is over the water, it is just magical!
The Lively Traveler
One of my favorite parts about our last trip to Kauai was that I could see the sunrise from my bed!
Barbara Robinson
EXCELLENT! Lucky lady!
kmf
I’m typically Team Sunset. However, I do love walking the beaches of Kauai or anywhere in Hawaii at sunrise.
Barbara Robinson
It is the most enjoyable part of each day for me when we are there! I love my early morning walks!
Marianne
Gorgeous! Would love to see a sunset in Hawaii!
Barbara Robinson
Nothing like it! GO!
Sabrina DeWalt
As much as I love a beautiful sunset, I think I like sunrises even more. There is something beautiful and fresh about greeting a new day with all the promise it has ahead. If only sunrise wasn’t so early in the morning!
Danielle Ardizzone
Just gorgeous! I live on the Jersey Shore and love to watch the sun rise over the water.
