Do you ever?
Do you ever read in the bible? God’s comfort is available daily, hourly, or minute by minute. So many opportunities to derail our daily walk with God can accost us. So many life events occur that distract our eyes away from our walk with Him. Like a good marriage, our walk with our savior takes commitment and time to build a firm foundation. Watering the seeds of knowledge and weeding out the distractions can provide plenty of growth in His knowledge to nurture the shared bond.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Psalms 23:1-6
Do you ever?
Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Overwhelmed with life?
Sometimes we feel like life is throwing darts at us from every angle, all at the same time. It is a painful, hurtful, despairingly horrible experience.
Like life is sucking you into a vortex of hurricane proportions swirling and damaging you at every turn. How do we make it stop? How do we stop the dread in the pit of our stomach every time the phone rings? Bad, horrific news just seems to keep coming…
You know the feeling, right? Every fiber of your being screams for the ringing to cease and not signal more negative energy, enough is enough!
Right in this moment…PRAY! Stop what you are doing and ask God to intervene.
“…Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9

Do you ever?
Do you ever feel really alone?
Sometimes we feel like we are stranded on a desert island. Isolated, separated from our support systems. Lack of human interaction our preference through despair or prison of choice.
Like being separated, alone is preferable to putting a smile on our face and pretending that everything is fine. It isn’t fine…
Why when we most need support from others do we isolate ourselves? Sometimes it cannot be helped like during COVID, but unfortunately the sad truth is that when we are really upset…we just want to be left alone.
This is truly the moment that we most need to be supported by non-biased human interaction to just listen to us. Not an offer of a solution, but just a listening ear for us to talk out our own problems. Usually when you do this, you talk yourself towards your own conclusion of a solution.
Remember in these moments of isolation and solitude that you are actually not alone. God is always there with you listening to you when you speak and gently guiding you to the solutions you are seeking.
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 31:6
Do you ever?
Do you ever feel like people continually let you down.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalms 34:18
You keep expecting them to grow in their humanity, yet they do not evolve. They continue the same cycle of emotional manipulation and abuse over, and over again steadily wearing you down with their toxic behavior. Year after, year, after year? It could be a friend or family member…
Sometimes we see the light at the end of the tunnel and think, they’ve changed. Unfortunately, reality returns to slap us down like a lightning strike. Nope, people don’t change at core. Toxic is as toxic does. The cycle continues once again.
Like expecting a different outcome each time is even possible? Not!
Choices… we all have them. We can choose who we let close to us and who we choose to let go out of our life. Boundaries. Find them for your personal relationships that fall into these categories and draw the line in the sand where you are not willing to cross into toxic relationships with toxic people.
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.
Romans 16:17-18
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes…”
Revelation 21:4
Do you ever?
Do you ever feel like the tears won’t stop dripping?
Deep gut-wrenching sobs need to escape, but numbness is all that remains present?
Sometimes we experience grief of such drowning deep proportions that we feel like the struggle to surface for healing air is beyond our strength. Like, the breath of joy and contentment is even possible, after the stabbing wounds of deep grief? Maybe in time, lots of time…
A precious friend of mine has lost a child. The grieving is deep and wide with lots of questions. Words to express my sorrow are not present. My soul aches with her pain and loss. Prayer my only recourse to help.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Do You Ever?
Do you ever read in the bible? God’s comfort is available.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
Psalms 46:1-3
I recently watched my husband slowly lose his father. It was a painful process of grief that he endured stoically. He is a very strong Christian man. He lost his mother several years prior to this event. That loss was very hard and deeply, deeply painful, as well.
He is the youngest of his brothers and lived at home with his parents probably the longest. A sense of alone has entered his world. This transition is unfamiliar and odd. He is struggling. He is working through this tough time. It is not easy. It is work. God is leading him.
He is such a strong man. Strong in his faith. Strong in his convictions. Strong in his moral compass. He is a steady leader for our boys emulating what a Christian man looks like in dark moments.
He leans on his faith daily. He works very hard to incorporate Jesus’ example into his daily life. It is work. It is hard. He fails. He repairs. He learns. He moves on. He is not afraid to say, “I’m sorry, I was wrong, please forgive me.” Bitter words for all of us to mouth in the heat of the moment, for-sure!
As, I watch him I am humbled daily to realize that his example is a ministry to all of us around him. We all fail; we all fall short. We all make mistakes. We all need forgiveness. We all need an example of a Godly man in our lives to emulate. We all need God’s comfort…daily.
Do you have a relationship with God? Do you talk to God daily working on reinforcing your relational foundation with Him? Do you find refuge and strength in your darkest moments? Do you have a strength of character present for you to emulate in your daily walk? Do you surround yourself with positivity and avoid the toxic? COMMENT BELOW…I’d really like to hear from you. We are not alone. Lean on each other, especially in dark moments.

It is human nature to go it alone…Allowing God to be a part of our trials is so much smarter and wiser…It takes a bit to figure that out sometimes!

One of the things I loved most about becoming Catholic was knowing I wasn’t alone. In times like the ones you’ve mentioned, I had someone I could call on for love, support and understanding. Turning to God and prayer are a great comfort in times of need.
