TOUR THE FORTS!
This old Spanish colonial town features gorgeous pastel-colored colonial townhouses, old buildings, and forts that date back to the 1500’s. Points of interest include Fort San Felipe Del Morro, Fort San Cristobal, and La Fortaleza.
Castillo San Cristóbal is the largest fortification built by the Spanish in the New World. When it was finished in 1783, it covered about 27 acres of land and partly encircled the city of San Juan. Entry to the city was sealed by San Cristóbal’s double gates.
After close to a hundred years of relative peace in the area, part of the fortification was demolished in 1897 to help ease the flow of traffic in and out of the walled city. Many remnants of the fort and walled sections remain. It is very interesting to experience this area.
A tour of the fort reveals quite interesting information! It is well worth the time to enjoy a tour!
Each grain of soil in those walls represents history, time, and many others stories from times past. The rich history is fascinating! Imagine the stories the walls could tell if they had the ability to share stories of all the souls that experienced life here!
This beach is a wonderful afternoons walk! We explored the beachfront for a very long time enjoying the beauty of the ocean! The views from the street side were amazing too!

“A vacation is having nothing to do and all day to do it in.”
~ Robert Orben
Cruise ships enter this port right next to the old fort! Standing near the fort walls you can get a clear understanding of how and why the island of Puerto Rico had so many Spanish Forts built here. MONUMENTS
“It’s better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times.”
~UNKNOWN
The island is also popularly known in Spanish as la isla del encanto, meaning “the island of enchantment”. Columbus named the island San Juan Bautista, in honor of Saint John the Baptist. Eventually, traders and other maritime visitors came to refer to the entire island as “Puerto Rico”, and “San Juan” became the name of the main trading/shipping port.
Directly across the street from Puerto Rico’s capitol building are nine life size statues of all of the Presidents who have visited Puerto Rico while in office. Theodore Roosevelt, Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Gerald Ford, and Barack Obama all make up the walkway.

RECONNECTING ROMANCE
“Take vacations, and go as many places as you can. You can always make money, but you can’t always make memories.”
~ Unknown
Every relationship requires time and attention to thrive. My husband is my best friend. We require time away from the stress of daily life to reconnect and try to make that a priority. We try to “date” weekly and keep our marriage growing each day. A cruise is a great opportunity to really focus on each other and truly enjoy spending time in each other’s company!
Life can be hectic! I wouldn’t trade my boys for the world, but let’s be real! Children can be draining to a marriage! We all need “our person” to feel whole. God intended for husband and wives to be two halves that when together make a whole for fulfillment. My husband and I try to nurture that promise that we made together many years ago when we said, “I do!” Vacations provide us the uninterrupted opportunity to focus on each other solely! Carve out that special time with your special person to DISCOVER SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO! It is worth it!
