The NUMBER 1 reason to cruise on your vacation is simple! It is EASY! The cruise company of your choice strives to anticipate your every need. They work diligently to serve their cruisers with a great attitude of positivity, encouraging your complete relaxation and enjoyment. If you’ve remembered the TOP 10 THINGS TO PACK you are set up for success! From the moment you open your cabin door to see how great your prepared cabin appears, to being seated at a beautiful, elegant table for dinner that evening, you exhale all your accumulated life stress. Over the course of that first day of embarkation stress dissipates leading to a restful, tranquil evening of ocean breeze and fresh sea air, entertainment, or a moonlit stroll on deck. No matter your choice, there is something for everyone. From food choices to whatever time of day someone is hungry to each person’s choice of entertainment. There is something for everyone! Easy to please all!
“To move, to breathe, to fly, to float. To roam the roads of lands remote. To travel is to live.” ~Hans Christian Anderson
The NUMBER 2 reason to cruise on your vacation is to EXPLORE somewhere new for one day! It’s like “SPEED DATING” except with different vacation destinations!! Each person’s experience is going to be different which creates vast opinions of each vacation destination. Factors of weather, crowds, countries, languages, cultures, and economies play into the experience. After “SPEED DATING” a vacation destination, you can decide if you’d like to travel back to that location for a deeper dive into that locale on a separate trip.
“We must not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we began and to know the place for the first time.” ~T.S. Eliot
The NUMBER 3 reason to cruise on your vacation is that it is a perfect match for LARGE GROUPS to spend a week (more or less) together in one place easily. You can spend as little or as much time together as you choose. The group can go separate ways for entertainment choices during the day pleasing everyone in the crowd and reconnecting for dinner together in the dining room , if you choose, or not…LIDO DECK BUFFET is always serving! Private dining room experiences can be observed with a reservation for a special moment alone too. Did I mention that each person’s food preferences are usually represented on the menu with so many food choices that ALL are sure to be satisfied? Evening entertainments are vast with many opportunities as groups or not. That’s the beauty of it, you can decide what you are in the mood for and adjust as you choose day by day or moment by moment, yet you are all on vacation together!
“Take every chance you get in life, because some things only happen ONCE.” ~Karen Gibbs
The NUMBER 4 reason to cruise on your vacation is the FOOD! The meals are included! While on vacation here, you don’t have to meal plan, run to the grocery store to stock the frig, cook, dishes, etc. Being the Mom of two very busy, big, strong football boys that seem to always be hungry… How easy is this travel choice for the food issue! I love that virtually at any time on a cruise ship there are plentiful choices: room service, LIDO DECK BUFFET, dining rooms, food stations, late night pizza & desserts, drink stations, ice cream stations, etc. There is never a problem to find something to eat or a lack of amazing choices available. Order as much or as little as you want at each meal. The chef prepared meals are inspired, and the “Local Fare” section on each evening meal menu reflects a theme of that days port. Early morning croissants with jam and a pot of coffee & cream to enjoy on the balcony is one of my favorite treats I indulge in while cruising! Sunrise with a food service tray on my private room balcony is my happy place.
“This much I know. If you are what you eat, then I only wanna eat the good stuff.” ~ratatouille
The NUMBER 5 reason to cruise on your vacation is just BEING AT SEA! The humid, moist, salty sea air invites a relaxation unlike any other that I’ve experienced. Gone are the hair dryers and heavy make up. Sun kissed skin and air-dry hairdos rock! Loose comfortable clothing that flows in the sea breeze feels like none other! SUNRISES & SUNSETS at sea are unlike any you’ve seen… God’s broad strokes of perfect color pallets paint a canvas of such beauty. You must see it evolve in person with the call of the sea birds! The lulling sound of the ocean as you drift off to sleep with the balcony door open allowing the ocean sounds and humidity to surround your senses is wonderful!
“Dance with the waves, MOVE with the sea. Let the rhythm of the water set your soul FREE.” ~Christy Ann Martine
The NUMBER 6 reason to cruise on your vacation is the ENTERTAINMENT available aboard ship! Each evening cruisers have many choices. Young American style theater performances in the auditorium, comedy club performers at intervals, musical performer in many different lounges, casinos, dance lessons, life size chess matches on deck, on deck hot tubs, many theme bars, dance clubs, card rooms, sports lounges, spa visits, cruise director led fun such as “newly-wed” style game show performances where the audience is the entertainment. Each day a list by the hour and location of entertainments are available. The choices are staggering. It is impossible to “do” everything. We typically read over the list and choose a few items of interest for that day then end up lying in the sun reading a book or napping.
“Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change.” ~Wayne W. Dyer
The NUMBER 7 reason to cruise on your vacation are the EXCURSIONS at ports. Each cruise company creates relationships with various entertainment companies located at the ports where the cruise ship stops that can offer cruisers “safe” entertainment that can be booked through the cruise company easily. Typical activities like, snorkel charters to find the perfect SNORKELING SPOTS, catamaran cruises, zip lining, horseback riding, jeep rental tours, four-wheeling, private island to swim, swimming with dolphins, stingray city, diving for conch, or going to a beach party can be booked on the cruise site’s web page prior to embarkation or while aboard. You can also independently make plans for excursions on your own. Either way is wonderful to have an adventure in another destination. We’ve created so many fabulous memories on excursions. Favorites to mention were a catamaran ride to a private beach in Antigua and Stingray City, swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. Renting Jeeps in Cozumel to explore the island for a day too.
“One doesn’t discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.” ~Andre Gide
The NUMBER 8 reason to cruise on your vacation is complete RELAXATION occurs. Daily we carry so much stress on our shoulders and it becomes “normal” to feel weighed down by it. The moment you step on a cruise ship you begin to feel that pressure being eliminated. Worries float away as you head out to sea. Your biggest decisions are regarding where to eat dinner, what are the evenings entertainments, and making sure your ship to sail card is on your person. No worries about driving somewhere, grocery shopping, or how much cash you need to have on you. Once you allow the tranquility to seep in on you, it is very freeing to experience. So, kick back, relax, put your feet up on the ottoman and enjoy the ocean breeze and relax!
“Always find time for the things that make you feel happy to be alive.” ~000
The NUMBER 9 reason to cruise on your vacation is the PEOPLE who will serve you that you will encounter on the cruise. Employees of the cruise companies typically are team members from every part of the world. Their name tags not only have their first names, but the country they hail from. For many this employment opportunity is their ticket to an adventure of their own travel and opportunity for prosperity. They work very hard to please and to move through the ranks of their companies to achieve promotion. Your positive feedback on their performance review is paramount! Take a moment on your next travel to ask them questions about themselves, you may be surprised at their stories. It is eye opening to hear the path that led them to this service industry and you will be surprised to hear how many have worked doing this for many contracts. View the people who are serving you through new eyes next time you travel!
“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new landscapes, but in having new eyes. ~Marcel Proust
The NUMBER 10 reason to cruise on your vacation is PEOPLE WATCHING! What entertainment! Life takes all kinds to keep things interesting! We all need to DAYDREAM NEW TRAVEL ADVENTURES! What a joy to examine humanity in all forms, stages of life, and at extreme relaxation! Whether it is dancing around the pool deck, sipping umbrella drinks, or foraging for the next dessert to try! Cruising is the ultimate mix of fun and relaxation!
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” ~Helen Keller

I love your explanation of reason #2–like speed dating! 😂 I’ve never done a cruise (outside of a couple hours on a boat), and I admit the idea makes me a little nervous, but everyone always looks like they have such a great time!

I agree with so many of these numbers! I totally agree with you on cruises being a great way to vacation with large groups. I’m dying to have a family getaway with the entire family! And cruises are so relaxing. I love adventures, and sometimes the short day excursions at the ports seem too short, but if you’re vacationing to relax, cruises are the best. You don’t have to worry about where you’re going to eat or sleep each night. All the creature comforts are taken care of so you can just have fun!
Holly
Cruising is my all-time favorite way to vacation! I always get a balcony suite and spend that little extra to have my own private deck to enjoy sunrise coffee and sunset cocktails! Love it!
Barbara Robinson

Alexis Farmer
I’ve never been on a cruise. Definitely considering it now when all the COVID craziness stops!
April
I love how you mentioned all the great things we get when we will do cruising. I honestly not been to a cruise ship yet and I hope we can try someday. Sometimes it’s just scary to be always in the boat and always in the middle of the ocean. Great post and so convincing.
Emily Ackerman
I do love tropical places and beaches, I have never been able to get myself to think about a cruise however. I’ve heard so many horror stories that make the news
Barbara Robinson
I’ve read them too…but the same can be said for flying…I’ve never experienced anything but positive cruising…and flying!
Kendra

Lisa S
We have thought about a cruise, just not sure where to go!
Marianne
Weee t on our very first cruise last summer. It was a smaller ship and only for a week. We loved it! I was terrified since I get motion sickness on a park swing! But I didn’t do too badly. Maybe once the pandemic is over, I will give it another shot!
Karie
Those are great reasons to cruise. I hope to go one day. I think the food would keep me in a food coma but I love the idea that surely everyone in my family will be happy whereas on other vacations it’s hard to do something everyone wants to do or eat.
Maya
Reading your article has inspired me to put it on my bucket list of things to do. So fun!
Maria Khan
Cruising is so convenient! I cannot wait to take another cruise! I love it!
