5 WAYS TO CELEBRATE VALENTINE’S DAY

Do you have 5 ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day ready? LOVE! It is the foundation of all. From spirituality to parenting to family to a life partner, love is the foundational basis for any structure in a relationship. Valentine’s Day is a great day to remind us of these relationships in our life. Simple gestures can be shared to convey your thoughtful mindfulness of these special people in your life.

Materialistic gestures are not necessary. Genuine acts from the heart are always appreciated more! Report back! I’d find it very interesting to hear what you discovered! Otherwise…just rest assured in the blessings you have before you and be encouraged daily in God’s words regarding the importance of love in your life!

“Valentine’s Day is just another day to truly love like there is no tomorrow.”

~Roy A. Ngansop

What are your families traditions for celebrating Valentine’s Day? Do you travel? What does your celebration weekend look like? Travel to your favorite Valentine destination location to celebrate may not be an option, so celebrate at home or locally. You can decide if it will be low key or big.

Whatever your Valentine’s Day may looks like this year, take a minute and be thankful for the people in your life. Perhaps the day is one you dread for whatever reason, I get that if you’ve lost someone you loved deeply, but please take a moment to recognize that you were blessed to have experienced love. Those feelings of disliking Valentine’s Day mean that you feel; you are human and Valentine’s Day triggers emotions strongly as that fine line between elated love and big loss can be fuzzy. It is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all. God has a plan for you. Trust in His love.

TRAVEL

“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”

~Paulo Coelho

San Juan Puerto Rico

My husband and I recently went on a cruise just the two of us for the first time. We usually cruise with other couples or as a family with our boys. It was a great way for us to re-connect and celebrate Valentine’s Day together. We are transitioning empty nesters. Our house has seemed so quiet without the daily chaos of our boys and their schedules.

We really enjoyed this special time together. We splurged on a couples massage at the spa. We had romantic dinners and moon light walks on deck. We enjoyed nights out at the comedy club as well as after dinner drinks at the micro-pub. Midnight pizza around the pool deck while watching outdoor movies too! We giggled, napped, and people watched together! What fun!

Reconnecting with your best friend and husband of twenty-five years is a great thing! He is my forever Valentine! Thank goodness he is filled with the fruits of the spirit…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self control, and gentleness. He’s certainly needed it with me! 🙂 I am blessed by his love and the love God has placed in his heart of HIM!

Get together with family! Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to re-connect with loved ones that we don’t get to spend a lot of time with daily. ENJOY a great family day! Try to make time to spend quality time together! Take every opportunity to celebrate your family and togetherness!

Time is fleeting! Don’t isolate yourself away from the support of those around you and remember to reconnect with loved ones every chance you get! If family is not an option for you, don’t hesitate to take a surprise plate of cookies to a neighbor and wish them a Happy Valentine’s Day! We all need each other and a sense of community! Share time with each other and re-connect!

CELEBRATE WITH CO-WORKERS

“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.”

~Lucille Ball

Each Valentine’s Day the owner of the business I work for presents everyone with a rose. He is so appreciative of the employees that work for him. He takes every opportunity to be sure to let them know how much he appreciates their hard work and dedication. We all know that on Valentine’s Day we will be going home with a rose! I love that tradition! DO you have any traditions with your co-workers?

We try to do soup Wednesday throughout the year, especially during the cold winter months. A sign-up sheet in the break area is posted and each person takes a turn to make a big pot of soup (unique recipes welcome) to share at lunch time. Valentine’s Day will bring a sweet treat to share after we eat soup. It’s a wonderful way to let the people that you spend so many hours with each week know how much you appreciate them and their supportive friendship.

Do you share the love of friendship with co-workers. How many hours each week do you share with these people? Some people share more hours with co-workers than they do with their families. Try to remember these people on these special days, especially if they are alone at home.

We love exploring interesting new restaurants! Family is the core to our existence! We love taking our boys to new places to enjoy different cuisines. Food can be the segue to good times! Enjoy your time with those that mean the most to you! Whether a sandwich by the pool while traveling, in the backyard enjoying a BBQ, or at an organized function with loved ones! ENJOY the moments that we are given to share in each other’s lives!

Embrace each moment that presents itself to you to truly enjoy this Valentine’s Day! Celebrate all the special people in your life! Remember what you are celebrating!

Historically Valentine’s Day was started as a remembrance of Pope Gelasius I who technically invented Valentine’s Day in AD 496 when he established The Feast of Saint Valentine, in memory of the martyred saint who died on that day over 200 years before. Today we continue the tradition of remembrance of love and celebrate relationships!
